IGNEA — Petrichor: The Story Behind

Back in 2014, we were called Parallax and have released a single called Petrichor.

Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. This is a Greek word, a blend of petra meaning “stone”, ”related to rocks”, and ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.

Our track is sung on behalf of a person who appeals to gods and wants to be one of them. To initiate the transformation, he pronounces a petrichoral vow and is about to be torn by thunder. Thereafter, he will be among divine spirits, the foreshow of which is accompanies by Petrichor, a mighty scent.

Petrichor lyrics sound like this:

Petrichor, the odor of gods,

Mighty scent, which overlord lauds.

When you come our lives begin again

Torn by thunder, you born in blessed rain.

Strike me straight,

I'm dignified now

To pronounce

My Petrichoral vow.

And I am sanctified son

Of the gods and everyone who’s gone

I am an angel,

I am voice,

I am the god of my own choice.

Petrichor, the odor the gods,

Take my life in the name of our lords.

I am ready, the journey shall begin.

I am now the Petrichor within.

We are proud to have Yossi Sassi (ex-Orphaned Land) as a guest musician on Petrichor.
